Books and Album Overview
What makes Queensberry the most versatile album maker in the world is our unique range of page styles. Explore our page styles overview below and click through to find out more about each style.
It's easy to get confused by the word "page". Sometimes people use it to refer to a single "side", as in a book, and sometimes to two sides (also known as a "leaf" or "spread"!) We generally use the word to mean what we sell: two sides. We also talk about Layouts. "Layouts" refers to what you see when you open a book: the back of one page on the left, and the front of another on the right. Our lab prints "Layouts" rather than individual images - this allows for a higher standard of colour correction and more productive album assembly.
How we price
You’ll see in our price list and online calculators that printing and assembly are included in the per page price. We offer free design and basic colour correction services for albums, but not books, for which a small extra charge applies. Premium design, colour correction and artwork services are also available. Please see our price lists or online calculators for details.
We have two options for our Flushmount Albums. We offer Panorama and Classic.
The prints in Panorama albums are continuous across the layout, and creased, not cut, at the spine. Offering you a choice between heavy-weight and medium-weight pages. You can include up to 30 heavy pages or 45 medium-weight pages per album. You can also choose between inkjet and traditional silver halide printing.
Classic Flushmounts are heavy-weight
Overlay Matted Albums
The prints in Overlay Matted albums are lightly taped behind a mat, with the print edge concealed behind it. Overlay matted albums have clean-cut pages without edging or corners. You can choose the colour of both the mats and the page core (Black or Ivory), and either 6-colour offset or silver halide printing. We don’t recommend Black mats with Ivory pages (or vice versa) because it creates a striped "zebra effect" on the edge of the book block.
Duo albums enable you to combine Matted and Flushmount pages in the same album, and to bleed images out to the edge of Matted pages on one or more sides.
Mounting is generally Pagemount (the prints are trimmed slightly to reveal the coloured base page), but overlay mounting (photograph is lightly taped behind the mat, with the print edge concealed behind it) is also available. You can't mix mounting styles in the same album.
We trim the page block after assembly to maintain the same smooth-edge look as our Flushmount and Overlay Matted albums.
These features sound simple, but they open the door to design ideas that will once again differentiate your presentation from your competitors.
Duo pages and mats are available in Black or Ivory (one-page colour and one mat colour per album). We don’t recommend Black mats with Ivory pages (or vice versa) because it creates a striped "zebra effect" on the edge of the book block.
Classic Matted Albums
The distinguishing feature of our traditional Classic Matted albums is the protective edging and corners on the pages. The great thing about them is that they offer so much variety.
These are traditional albums with matted, edged pages that give a classic feel to every layout. Images are generally mounted in black or ivory Pagemount style mats (ie with the photos trimmed to fit inside the card mat, exposing the core page), but Overlay mounting is also available.
The Pagemount option allows you to choose from several base page colours. Pages are supplied with protective edging and corners in black, white or silver.
All images are printed on high-quality photographic paper using traditional silver halide technology.
Q Books are press-printed books with light-weight perfect-bound or medium-weight lay-flat pages. Both are printed with 6-colour digital offset technology.
We have five paper stocks to choose from: Satin, Pearl Metallic, Tintoretto and Nettuno (available in both weights) and Kodak Endura photo paper (light-weight only). You'll find samples of our range of Q-Book paper stocks in our 10x7 Q-Book Sampler.
You can include translucent pages anywhere in a Q-Book with light-weight pages. Medium-weight Q-Books are restricted to a single translucent before the first page.
